All Contestants must be registered attendees of Aniwave 2015.
Both Aniwave and our Cosplay Contest is a PG-13, family-friendly event. Offensive language and sexual humor is not allowed. Judgement on appropriate material is left to the discretion of the Aniwave Staff.
All contestants must exhibit good sportsmanship and remain professional at all times. Rude behavior and offensive remarks or insults toward staff, judges, or other attendees may be considered grounds for disqualification and dismissal from the convention without refund.
Contestants may only enter once; as either an individual or as part of a group.
Youth participants in our Junior class may be accompanied by a parent/guardian (who must have a con badge) should they choose to be.
General Costume Rules
No rented costumes may be worn in the Cosplay Contest. All purchased or professionally made costumes must be credited to the creator and the creator must be present in order for the costume to be entered. The creator will be given the award and prize should the costume win.
Your entry must be finished before you get to the contest room. No sewing, gluing, spray painting, or altering work is allowed backstage. However, final assembly of large pieces and/or props and unexpected repairs will be allowed.
All costumes must provide as much body coverage as a bikini. Body paint, latex, pasties, and thongs are not considered appropriate body coverage on their own.
All contestants must be able to make it up and down a set of three stairs in order to get on our main stage. Contestants may bring one assistant on stage with them to help move costumes or props.
Aniwave staff has the right to change your division to a higher division to create a fair competition. Consider this an honor.
The Cosplay Contest will have four divisions: Junior, Novice, Intermediate and Master
Junior – Contestants ages 10 and younger who have not won a major award* in a previous cosplay contest.
Novice – Contestants ages 11-16 who have not won a major award* in a previous cosplay contest.
